SC directs to maintain status quo, restricts probe over disputed well near Sambhal Mosque.

Uttar Pradesh authorities, the Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) and others have been asked not to take steps over a ‘private well’ near the Mughal-era Jama Masjid mosque in Sambhal.
The Supreme Court  issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and restricted it from conducting any probe over a disputed well in Sambhal masjid premises. The apex court directed the state to maintain the status quo.Supreme Court , earlier restricted courts from registering pleas related to Places of Worship Act or passing any interim orders in existing matters.
